How Long Does Beer, The Beverage from Cereal Grain, Stay in my System?

Beer is the oldest alcoholic beverage, commonly used by people after water and tea.  It is made from brewing and fermentation of starches of grains.  It is mainly derived from wheat, barley and rice. Flavors of herbs and fruits are added to this to make the aromatic beer.

Main Ingredients of Beer

The main basic ingredient of beer is water.  Different regions of the world contain different minerals in water and this water when used to make beer produces a particular taste of beer, eventually making regional character visible in the drink.

Fermentation

The flavor and strength of the beer is derived from its starch.  Malted grain is the most common source of starch.  Grain is soaked in water for germination, and then it has to be dried completely.  They produce enzymes that facilitate the conversion of starch into fermentable sugars.  The color of the beer varies according and is often dependent on the different roasting time of malt in different temperatures.  Darker beers come from darker malts.
Another important factor responsible for fermentation is yeast.  It ferments the liquid and influences the flavor and character.
The alcohol content of beer ranges from 3-30%.  Alcohol is the byproduct during the fermentation of yeast.  The alcohol content reduces when the temperature is low and fermentation is less.

Effect of Beer Intake on Health

Moderate consumption of beer decreases the risk of heart problem.  But the regular use of alcohol may result in liver disease and cancer.  Low alcohol content beer fights against cancer.  Lack of exercise and over consumption of beer cause ‘beer belly’.  As it contains significant quantity of nutrients in it, it takes time for the system to metabolize beer.

How Long Does Beer Stay in My System?

How long does beer stay in my system depends upon the quantity drank and number of times the drink is consumed.
Normally people metabolize ½ ounce of alcohol per hour [that is one standard drink].  If we drink three standard drinks, it nearly would take us 3 hours to free from alcohol.  The liver can only metabolize one standard drink in an hour.  If we drink large quantities of alcohol quickly it often proves to be toxic to the blood stream since it takes longer time for the liver to metabolize it.  Other factors on which How long does beer stay in my system depends upon the age, mass of the body, tolerance level, and metabolic rate of the individual.

  2. how long does beer stay in your body? say i drink 3 beers on satyrday, and these are 16 oz and 1 12oz on sunday how long will it stay in the human body weighing 134 pounds?

Hair drug tests can be dangerous since you had been drinking lots. A blood test may not detect the alcohol in your system since that would have been flushed out of your blood. Urine test may not. But wait for some more time. Opt for a detox then go for the test and you can pass drug test

  4. Thank you for all the info you have provided. I am going for a new job and they are going to send me for a drug test. I have a prescription for 2mg three times a day. I only take one in the morning. I know this seems like a large dose so one in the morning is fine. I was having a bad day, I was involved in a car accident and I took 3 in the am and 3 more at night. That was wed. I want to be sure I pass the drug test. Can you give me your expert opinion? Thank you so much. By the way, I am never taking xanax again.

Considering that you are not overweight, I would say that your liver would metabolize one standard drink in one hour. One standard drink is half ounce. For the quantity that you have mentioned and considering the fact that your metabolism is average, 16ox would take a minimum of 32 hours to get metabolized. To be safe, wait for the next few days and then take the test to test negative

When is the drug test going to be? Try to postpone the same as long as possible. You can pass the test. Ensure that you have a 2 week timeframe in-between your intake and your drug test
