I am taking levothyroxin, hydrocodone, alprazolam, diazapam, oxycodone hcl 5 mg, and temazepam 30mg; my urine test showed methodone in my system. I asked the pharmacist about this and he said there was no methodone in either of these meds; why? how could this be?

3 to 4 days...that's it dude. From 20 t0 40 MG depending on how long you have taken Methadone, how ACTIVE you are, and most important your metabilism. To get the Methadone out of your body completely is another story...Withdrawls only last 3-4 days, trust me I have done it many times trying to quit cold turkey...I don't recomend trying to Come Down off of anything higher than 50-60 mg cold turkey. IT CAN BE DONE, others have done it ! Just ask yourself how strong you are. And to the people saying they have tappered down to 5 mg COME ON PAL, shit or get off the pot. It won't hurt 5 mg give me a $#%^ing break...I CAME DOWN off of 80 mg after months of dailey use...get some balls people

I really need some advice, if anyone's out there and listening.
I went to a methadone clinic approximately 3 years ago and took 130mg/day for just under 2 years.
Long Story Made Short: Daily visits to "the clinic" led to heated arguments with my husband of 20+ years. Things got out of hand one morning, and I was arrested for domestic violence (misdemeanor.) My bail was only $200, but instead of bonding me out, he got a restraining order and served me divorce papers while I was in jail. They gave me Immodium AD and ibuprofen for coming off methadone cold turkey. All I can say is I prayed for death.
After 16 days, I was released and went to a shelter (I have no family other than husband and 4 kids.) I had zero cash and zero hope for any help with my still-intolerable withdrawals. Nightmarish.
The divorce became finalized and my husband has custody of all 4 children. In lieu of child support, I got very little money. I've rented an apartment for 6 months and it's do-or-die; get a job or be homeless. I am terrified.
Of course, when I got some cash in my hand, I sought something to make me feel normal (those of you who've been there will know exactly what I mean; those of you who haven't can't possibly know, to be honest.) I found myself doing about 4-5 percocet daily (I couldn't afford the clinic's start-up fee.)
About 3 weeks ago, I found a guy who offered 10mg methadone for $8 each. I bought 2, figuring it wouldn't do much, since I was used to 130mgs. I was wrong. I felt normal. I listened to music for the first time in months. I actually went outdoors. I got a haircut and color. The relief was so intense I broke down crying.
My question is this: Should I make the leap and go back to the methadone clinic? God knows I hated HAVING to go there daily and the hassles of it. But even after several months of zero methadone, my body never "got right" - the diarrhea, the paranoia, the restlessness, and the desperation were nearly unbearable. I was existing, but definitely not living. Not even close. I cried so much my face looked swollen all day.
Please, this is my life. I'm 45, divorced, and just trying to have a life. I have no insurance since the divorce, and all the free clinic gives is tramadol.
I could save up and go back to the clinic. The $14/day would be cheaper than buying on the street (which is bad, waking up each day hoping "the guy" will have some available, etc.) If I thought I could feel "normal" without it, I'd wait longer, but it's been over 10 months and it's just not happening.
Having lost my family, home, and security has added to the feeling of hopelessness, I'm sure. But if I could rid myself of the terrible physical anguish of going without, maybe I could start a new life.
I'm so sorry this is so long. It's hard to condense a lifetime. Please, any opinions, any thoughts... just please. I don't have a soul to ask, please believe me. My only sibling, my brother, took his life recently, and he was -- he was all I had, the only family I ever knew.
Just praying for some good advice. And thanks so much for listening.

I took methadone for 3 yrs. I was on 120mg a day I detoxed down to about 7mg and it is the 4th day without it.I feel normal..whatever that is. But I ran about 5 miles a day, take plenty of vitamins, remember to eat well no red meat!! and stay active keep your mind occupied, taking a hot bath helps to. When I was in the bed I felt so bad. But when I was active It felt bad but tolerable. So im 4 days in and feel fine so im here to tell you that it can be done.

Hey Chuck. The only way to get off 120mgs is to do it slowly. I went to a clinic and took 130/day then had to suddenly stop. And I don't think many people, if given a choice (I wasn't) would want to do that to themselves.
I'm in Chattanooga, too, so e-mail me if you need some support. You're doing the right thing, just be sure and do it the right way.
